Public Hearing on Garden State Parkway Interchange Project to be Held Next Tuesday at Stockton College

For the second time this year, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority will hold a public information session concerning the Garden State Parkway Interchanges project at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. This time, however, the information session will be followed by a formal public hearing.

The event will take place next Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Ninth Legislative District Delegation announced on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The delegation, made up of Sen. Christopher J. Connors, Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne C. Gove, had been informed of the event earlier in the day by the Turnpike Authority.

The subject of the hearing will be proposed in Galloway Township, the delegation said. A proposed interchange on Route 30 is not scheduled to be discussed.

A public information session was held in August on the issue, also at Stockton College. Since then, Galloway residents said that session did little to answer their questions, or clarify any misinformation surrounding the project.

Another public information session will take place next Tuesday from 5-6 p.m., but it will be followed by a formal public hearing.

According to the Turnpike Authority, those wishing to make comment during the public hearing must first register at a desk located at the front of the meeting room.

Speakers will be called to speak in the order in which they registered. However, priority will be given to public officials who wish to speak during this portion of the hearing.

Speakers will be required to give their full first and last names, spell their last names and provide their addresses. All comments will be recorded by the Certified Court Reporter on hand.

Oral comments will be limited to five minutes, but there will be no length limits on written comments.

The public hearing ends when all registered speakers have had the opportunity to speak. The record will remain open until Feb. 4, 2013, and anyone wishing to voice their concerns after the hearing may send comments to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

All comments will be included in the Final Hearing Report, which will be issued to Galloway Township and Atlantic County after Feb. 4, 2013, according to the Turnpike Authority.
