Recycling Reports for Galloway Businesses Due March 1

A new program is also launching to allow businesses to become designated as "green businesses."

Letters have been mailed to local businesses, offices and institutions requesting reports on their recycling activities from last year, Galloway Township announced on Thursday, Feb. 16.

The letters were mailed in January, Fiedler said, and the reports are due back to the Galloway Recycling Office by March 1.

Each business owner/operator is responsible to contract for the hauling of his/her recyclables, and to keep records so that the amount that they recycled can be reported in a timely manner, according to the township. Any business that did not receive this letter is asked to contact Barbara Fiedler at bfiedler@gallowaytwp-nj.gov, or by calling 609-652-8657, extension 10.

The township also announced the beginning of a new program, known as Galloway Green Business Recognition. As part of the program, student interns will visit businesses in Galloway Township with a checklist.

The checklist is a 70-point checklist, according to Fiedler, and businesses who meet the halfway point can be designated a green business. Those designated receive a window sticker to let the public know they are working to maintain a sustainable property. They will also be recognized on the new Galloway website.
