Retired Police Officer Frank Weir Honored At Council Meeting
Police Chief Patrick Moran presented Sgt. Frank Weir with a plaque to commemorate his service to Galloway Township.
During Galloway Township Police Sgt. Frank Weir's 27-year career with the department, he served in various roles, as a patrol officer, supervisor of the K9 unit and as a detective, among other positions.
Chief Patrick Moran called him a "very valuable asset to our department."
At Tuesday night's Galloway Township Council meeting, Weir, who is retiring, was honored for his service.

"He announced his retirement and two or three days later he's wrestling with a guy with a knife," said Moran. "That sticks out in my mind."
Mayor Don Purdy spoke about Weir's dedication to the community on Tuesday night.

"He's retired and he was here at , flipping hot dogs and hamburgers," he said. "His job is done, but he's still giving...I'm so proud to know Frank."
Weir also spoke during the ceremony, describing the nights he spent away from his family because he was called in to work, but saying that serving the community was worth it.
"It's been an honor and a pleasure to serve the residents of Galloway for the past 27 years," he said. "Now we're looking forward to starting the next chapter in our lives with our granddaughter and our extended new family."
Purdy said that replacing a man with as much experience as Weir is difficult.
"It's big boots the chief is going to have to fill over there," he said.
