Several Galloway Students Come Away Winners at Atlantic Cape's Media Awards Ceremony

Kenneth Kin was named the Communications Major of the Year.

Students from Galloway Township took home several awards from fifth annual Communication and Art Awards ceremony, held May 4 at the college’s Mays Landing campus.

Kenneth Kin, of Galloway, was named the Communications Major of the Year, beating out four other competitors, according to Atlantic Cape. Kin also won an award for Best News Story, as did Jamie Forand, of Egg Harbor City, and Madison Russ, of Ocean City.

Galloway’s Singuar Yuen won the Best of Show Award for the Atlantic Cape Art Gallery Faculty Selects: Annual Student Show, 2012 exhibit, for β€œLittle Girl.”

Other winners from Galloway included:

Best Poem: Cherie Chetyrbok of Galloway, who won alongside Amy Cooper, of Mays Landing; Aubrianna Fouts, of Egg Harbor Township; Gabriela La Cava, of Egg Harbor Township; James Magee, of Erma; and Branden Rosenberg, of Egg Harbor Township;

Best Short Fiction: Cherie Chetyrbok, of Galloway;

Best Drama: Joel Ollander, of Galloway;

Best Informative Speeches: Lauren Colella, of Galloway, and Ryan Martin, of Galloway, alongside Harris Schmerling, of Stone Harbor, and Rebecca Sundstrom, of Cape May;

Performing Arts: Isabella Fiore, of Galloway, alongside Markita Alston of Absecon; KJ Granger of Ocean City; and Christina Rodriguez of Atlantic City;

Best Mixed Media: Adam Jones, of Galloway; and

Best Editing: Max Fineran of Smithville.

There were 124 total Communications and Arts awards handed out.

Mike Richman of WAYV’s Mike and Diane Morning Show and Chelsea Pizzi, Atlantic Cape’s public relations and social media specialist, served as emcees of the event, according to Atlantic Cape. NBC-40 meteorologist Dan Skeldon was honored as an Outstanding Media Professional.Β 

Other speakers included Assistant Professors of Communication Keith Forrest, of Collingswood, and Joy Jones of Smithville; Atlantic Cape President Dr. Peter L. Mora of Palermo; and 2011 Communication Major of the Year Corinthea Harris, of Ocean City.
