Stockton College to Help Atlantic City Rescue Mission Via Bad Fashion
Bad Sweater Day is Dec. 13.

Workers in the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Science Labs are donning bad sweaters for a good cause.
Bad Sweater Day is Thursday, Dec. 13, and this year, once workers are finished with their bad sweaters, they will donate them to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, college officials said on Monday.
The idea came from 2012 Stockton graduate Alisha Coleman, a psychology and neuroscience major from Brigantine, according to college officials.

“Why not have the fun of the ugly sweater day and help people who could use a sweater at the same time?” Coleman said, suggesting people wear or bring an ugly or non-ugly sweater to work and for the office to donate it (or another sweater or article of clothing) to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
The staff will also accept monetary donations and canned food in room F001, with all proceeds going to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, college officials said.

College officials also encourage community members to participate, and donations are being taken all week, according to college officials.
“What you might consider to be an ugly sweater, someone else will not, particularly if they have no sweater at all,” Coleman said. “It doesn’t have to be a holiday sweater, and it doesn’t have to be ugly. You might go through your closet and find that you have a few too many sweaters. Well, somebody else would love to have even just one sweater.”
Coleman is pursuing a PhD in experimental psychology in order to teach and conduct research, college officials said.
