Stockton VP of Administration and Finance Taking Position at West Florida

 vice president for administration and finance—the man who oversaw construction on the new Campus Center and the school's acquisition of the Seaview Dolce Resort—is moving on to a warmer environment.

Matthew Altier, who was the president of Stockton Affiliated Services Inc., is leaving the college to take a position as the vice president of administrative services at the University of West Florida, the school announced late Monday afternoon.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities (Stockton President) Dr. (Herman J.) Saatkamp and the college have afforded my career, and I will always look back fondly on my years at Stockton,” said Altier, who was recently married. “However, my wife and I are looking forward to an opportunity to pursue new goals and enjoy the warm weather of Florida’s Gulf Coast.”

“It is with mixed emotions that I accept the resignation of Matt Altier," Saatkamp said. “Although we are losing a talented administrator, I am happy for Matt and his wife Lori. He is embracing new endeavors and has indicated a desire to live in warm weather year-round. We certainly appreciate his many contributions to Stockton and wish him well.”

Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance Robert D'Augustine will take over Altier's duties on an interim basis.

“There are few individuals in New Jersey with Bob’s depth and breadth of finance and state procedures. He has the full support of the Division of Administration and Finance and the entire College community,” Saatkamp said. “Bob was a key behind-the-scenes presence during the formation of SASI, the finance and construction of the new Campus Center and finance of the new science building, for which we will break ground in June.

“We are fortunate there will be an active continuation of the many projects we have undertaken without a ‘learning curve’ under Bob’s able direction. He is an excellent candidate for the interim appointment while we engage in a nationwide search for Matt’s replacement.” 

The position of vice president for administration and finance is part of Saatkamp's Executive Leadership Cabinet. The person in the position oversees College budgets, finances, investments, administrative operations and personnel.

The SASI president is responsible for property and real estate investment, housing initiatives and public-private partnerships.

Altier came to Stockton in 2008 to serve as vice president for administration and finance, and had has duties expanded to include the head position for SASI. He had previously served at the California State University, Sacramento.

The college's on the new Campus Center took place during on May 7. It was the single largest construction project since 1972, when the main campus opened.

After acquiring the Seaview, Stockton was responsible for massive renovations, which not only allowed for new housing for certain students and expansion of its hospitality and tourism related programs, but also played a role in ensuring the will be played in Galloway Township for the next four years.

Altier also played a big role in establishing a satellite campus in Hammonton, as well as a partnership with the Noyes Museum of Art.
