WATCH: Flooding, Heavy Winds Hit Atlantic County As Nor'easter Bears Down

A weather system separate from Hurricane Joaquin is causing flooding up and down the Jersey Shore. Videos show flooding impact.

Several inches of rain fell Friday as a nor’easter soaked New Jersey, causing flooding up and down the Jersey Shore.

From Manasquan to Ocean City, drivers and residents were dealing with the effects of a system that’s separate from Hurricane Joaquin.

Winds speeds also reached 40 mph in some areas as local officials worked hard to beat back the tide.

Those impacts include:

  • A high-wind warning and a coastal flooding warning was in effect from Ocean to Cape May counties.
  • Toms River officials were trying to create a sand wall along the Ortley Beach shoreline to prevent flooding.
  • The Point Pleasant First Aid Dive Team posted photos on Facebook showing the waves washing up past the dune line.
  • News12 was on scene in Manasquan, showing water washing up to the walkways along the beach.
  • Flooding was reported in Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton.
  • Photos were published on Twitter showing flooding up and down the Cape May County coast, including Ocean City, Wildwood and Sea Isle City.
  • The East Bay Bridge in Barnegat was opened for limited and emergency use by residents affected by flooding. Bayshore Drive was impassible near the bathing beach.
  • Beaches in Long Beach Island were closed to vehicles because of the storm.
  • As of 2:08 p.m., there was Flooding on U.S. 30 in both directions in Absecon City to west of Atlantic City Expressway
  • As of 2:08 p.m., there was flooding on U.S. 40 in both directions in Egg Harbor Township to Atlantic City Expressway in Atlantic City.
  • As of 1:16 p.m., there was a speed restriction on the Betsy Ross Bridge westbound between the New Jersey Side in Pennsauken and the Pennsylvania Side in Philadelphia of 35 miles per hour due to weather conditions.
