• Garwood Business Seeks Certificate of Non-Conformity (goleader.com) — Garwood’s Planning Board has delayed a decision on whether a long-running lawn sprinkler business on Second Avenue can keep operating in a residential zone, pushing the application to July 22. Board members also agreed to formally oppose two state affordable-housing bills they say would weaken Garwood’s local zoning control and increase density without sufficient local input.
   

• Teen charged in deaths of 2 Cranford girls makes first court appearance (nj.com subscription) — An 18-year-old Garwood resident accused in a 2025 Cranford crash that killed two 17-year-old girls has now appeared in Union County Superior Court and agreed to remain jailed while the case proceeds. Prosecutors plan to present the case to a grand jury, and the victims’ families say they are relieved he will be tried as an adult and kept in custody.
