5 Charged At 'Nuisance Drug House' In Gloucester Township: Police

Authorities said they found heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a set of brass knuckles —​ an illegal weapon.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Five people were charged after police executed a search on a "nuisance drug house" early Thursday morning in Gloucester Township, authorities said.

The Gloucester Township Police Department said they received a "significant upward trend" in calls to the Glen Burnie Drive home and the immediate neighborhood. During the investigation, law enforcement recovered heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a set of brass knuckles — an illegal weapon — police said.

"The arrests of these individuals is part of our Community Policing initiatives to eliminate this type of nuisance criminal activity from the neighborhoods of Gloucester Township," the police department said in a statement. "We work closely with our residents, our Public Works Department, and our Code Enforcement Unit to keep our community clean and to have these types of neighborhood nuisance properties in compliance with our property and maintenance ordinance."

The Gloucester Township Police Special Investigations Unit executed the search warrant with help from the agency's Special Response Team (SWAT).

The following people were charged:

  • Steven Brocco, 52, the homeowner: charged with distribution of CDS (a controlled dangerous substance), possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute in a school zone, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
  • Matthew Brocco, 19: charged with distribution of CDS, possession of CDS, distribution of CDS in a school zone, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
  • Edward Nevius, 23: possession of CDS.
  • Devyn Gigliotti, 22: outstanding contempt-of-court arrest warrant.
  • Amanda Wood, 29: outstanding contempt-of-court arrest warrant.

The Brocco's and Nevius were placed in the Camden County Jail, with appearances pending in Superior Court. Gigliotti and Wood were released with future court dates.
