9/11 Activities In The Black Horse Pike Regional School District Ahead Of 15th Anniversary

The district will be holding activities at its three high schools.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- With the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on the horizon this weekend, the Black Horse Pike Regional School District will commemorate the event throughout the district with a series of events.

The list of those events, provided by the school district, can be found below:

Highland

  • Students (members of History Club) will be on the morning news/announcements on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday to make a short announcement about a specific topic relating to the September 11th attacks. A short video clip about that topic will also be played for all students.
    • Wed. 9/7: Overview of 9/11
    • Thurs. 9/8: Pentagon attack
    • Fri. 9/9: Flight 93
    • Mon. 9/12: Aftermath/patriotism displayed as a result
  • The school will show "Flight 93" in the auditorium during Tartan Time on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for all students to view.
  • Social Studies teachers will be doing activities in class related to the events in the days surrounding 9/11.


Triton

  • Mr. Lou Giaccardo, the 9/11 speaker from previous years and survivor of the attack on the Twin Towers, will be speaking to freshmen and sophomores on Monday. The talk is directed at those two classes because many juniors and seniors have already heard him speak. History classes that meet will be attending, and other classes have also been invited.
  • Social Studies teachers will be doing activities in class related to the events in the days surrounding 9/11.

Timber Creek

  • The school is running a video and photographic essay that will be broadcast in the morning after the pledge. It will be introduced with footage of the planes flying into the twin towers and first responders. This will be followed by a photographic essay in which teachers and students read the events of the day and how they transpired. Photos will be included in this portion of the presentation. The entire presentation should run 20 minutes.
  • Social Studies teachers will be doing activities in class related to the events in the days surrounding 9/11.
