Intoxicated Driver Kills E-Bike Rider In South Jersey: Prosecutor

The DUI summons followed a crash along Laurel Road.

LINDENWOLD, NJ — A 65-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday after she hit and killed the driver of an electronic bike (e-bike), the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.

Deborah Carey, of Pine Hill, was charged with one count of second-degree death by auto and received summonses for other offenses, including driving under the influence.

At around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Laurel Road for a report of a vehicle crash.

Erica Beeks, 46, of Lindenwold, was declared dead just minutes after officers arrived.

Carey was arrested at the scene and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
