GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a driver early Thursday morning, Gloucester Township Police said.
At around 2 a.m., officers responded to the area of Kearsley Road and Hazeltop Drive for a report of a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle.
He was standing in the travel line at the time of the crash and went onto the hood of the car before falling on the grass, authorities said.
Emergency medical workers worked to stabilize the man after he was found on the side of the road.
He was then taken to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden, where he remains in critical condition.
The driver safely stopped the vehicle and stayed on scene until first responders arrived.
Neither the driver nor the passenger in the vehicle was hurt, and both are cooperating with police.
Police remind residents to wear reflective or bright clothing and use a cellphone light as a warning device while walking.
