Man Arrested On Burglary-Related Charges In Gloucester Township

The suspect, Dylan Dougherty of Clementon, was being sought by several other police departments, according to authorities.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man recently arrested in Gloucester Township on burglary-related charges was also wanted by several other police departments, according to the Gloucester Township Police Department.

A man later identified as 30-year-old Dylan Dougherty of Clementon was arrested Saturday morning after a resident saw Dougherty allegedly trying to break into his vehicle which was parked in the unit block of Chews Landing Road, police said.

Dougherty was charged and processed with third-degree criminal attempt burglary for the alleged incident on Saturday as well as processed on several outstanding warrants from multiple other jurisdictions, according to police. Dougherty was sent to prison pending further action on these matters, according to police.

"The Gloucester Township Police Department would like to highlight this case to serve as an example to remind all residents that doing the 9 p.m. routine works," the Gloucester Township Police Department said on its Facebook page. "Get into the 9 p.m. routine every night by ensuring that your keys or key FOBs are removed from your vehicle, your valuables are removed from your vehicle and your vehicle is locked."

The incident should also remind those who see suspicious and/or criminal acts in progress should immediately call their local police department's non-emergency number.
