Black Horse Pike Offers Timeline On School Changes Amid Pandemic
The Black Horse Pike Regional School District released a schedule on how its new schedule with more in-class time will unfold on Monday.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Black Horse Pike Regional School District continues to build on its return to school plan amid the coronavirus pandemic. A week after announcing an increase in the amount of time students will attend school beginning in the hybrid format, the district released a timeline of how the new schedule will unfold.
The changes are being made to better meet the needs of students and staff, the district said previously. It recognized that the first phase of its plan has "slowed curriculum implementation, burdened teachers with juggling three methods of instructional delivery, and limits student access to academic extra-help." Teachers are being encouraged to test livestreaming with all class periods while continuing to provide direction to students. The following is planned for upcoming weeks:
- Nov. 2 will be an asynchronous learning day, with teachers reporting to school. Professional learning opportunities will be offered. Nov. 4 will remain a synchronous, remote instruction day;
- Full livestreaming integration is expected the week of Nov. 9;
- Teachers will report to school on Nov. 23 and 24. There will be a half-day bell schedule each day, and students will be home engaging in synchronous learning. Nov. 25 is a half-day, so this will be an asynchronous learning day. Teachers will offer extra help and office hours until 11:45 a.m. Nov. 26 is Thanksgiving, and school is closed Nov. 25.
On Monday, the district also announced that it is adding tutoring services for all English and Math students. Tutoring for English will be available from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Math tutoring will be offered from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Math tutoring will be available for Geometry, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.

Beginning last week, the district reduced the number of cohorts from four to two as it prepares for the second phase of reopening.
Students in Group A will have in-person learning on Monday and Tuesday, and Group B will attend in-person on Thursday and Friday. Wednesday will remain as a remote, live synchronous learning day, and the full-remote option will continue, with students logging in every day for live instruction.
For students attending in-person, the day begins at 7:25 a.m. with morning announcements. Learning for all students begins at 7:45 a.m.
When in-school or while "streaming into" the class, students will participate in 57-minute-long classes. Students will complete posted assignments on Google Classroom.
Time will be set aside for teacher planning and extra help from 12:35 p.m. to the end of the school day every day but Wednesday. According to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Repici, a high number of students have a failing grade in at least one class at mid-marking period.
