Black Horse Pike Regional Basketball Teams One Game From Championship Showdown

Timber Creek and Highland each advanced to the semifinals.

Two Black Horse Pike Regional boys basketball teams are one game away from playing each other for a South Jersey title.

Both the top-seeded Timber Creek and second-seeded Highland Regional high school boys basketball teams advanced to the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs with quarterfinal victories on Wednesday, according to nj.com.

Timber Creek defeated No. 8 Seneca, 73-36, in the quarterfinals. The Chargers host No. 5 Winslow in the semifinals on Friday, 5:30 p.m.

Randy Bell led the Timber Creek with 24 points, followed by 20 points from Caleb Bowser. Denzel Washington had 11 points.

Highland defeated No. 10 Mainland, 69-67, in overtime. The Tartans host No. 3 Toms River East in the semifinals on Friday, 7 p.m.

Christian Scafidi had a double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Zafir Brower had 15 points, followed by Gabe Villegas with 12.

Highland won despite a turnover late in overtime, according to the report. Mainland had the final shot, but its attempted three-pointer fell short.

If Timber Creek and Highland each win on Friday, they will play for the title on Tuesday night, March 8.
