Blood Drive for Orlando Victims at Camden County College Draws 'Overwhelming Response'
The blood drive took place on Monday at the college's Blackwood campus.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- A blood drive held at Camden County College to support the victims of the mass shooting at a gay bar in Orlando that left 50 people dead on Sunday at Camden County College had an "overwhelming response" that saw people turned away on Monday, according to college spokesperson Julie Yankanich.
The blood drive, held in partnership with the American Red Cross, took place at the connector building atrium on the college's Blackwood campus, College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road.
The Red Cross collected 45 pints of blood from the drive on what Yankanich called a successful day.
The blood drive was previously scheduled, and 31 people had signed up for it, according to Yankanich. On Monday morning, college officials got together and decided to donate the blood to anyone injured in the shooting who may be in need of blood.
In addition to the 50 people killed, 53 were injured.
"We had a surprising number of faculty and staff who came over on their lunch break to donate," Yankanich said, adding the college may add another blood drive. " ... We had to be done by 2 p.m., and we would need the approval of the national Red Cross to extend our time."
