Boom or Bust? Bonanza for Brokers, Burdens for Blue-Collars
Bullish markets mask bleak metrics as breadbasket blues build among beleaguered blue-collar mopes mired in misfortune

A nation once celebrated for its irrepressible optimism now appears to be obsessed with decline but progressive Democrat Lisa McCormick is calling for a decisive reversal of Reaganomics to address the stark divide between the soaring optimism on Wall Street and the harsh economic realities faced by everyday Americans caught in a relentless cycle of insecurity.
McCormick said the economic policies of the Reagan era have contributed to a widening gap between the financial elite's success, as celebrated by record-breaking stock markets, and the struggles of working-class families grappling with volatile incomes, unstable jobs, and declining wealth.
As the S&P 500 notches unprecedented highs, McCormick asserts that it is high time to reevaluate and reshape economic policies to prioritize the well-being of all citizens.

"Something is fundamentally wrong with the U.S. economy and until it is fixed, America will not provide an adequate standard of living for its citizens or effectively establish superiority over our global competition," said McCormick. "An important characteristic of the postwar U.S. economy was the relatively broad distribution of the fruits of global economic dominance, a widespread social equality that fulfilled the promise of the American dream."
America’s list of complaints seems endless: Real wages are falling. Productivity growth is down. Companies aren’t competitive in global markets. White-collar jobs are no longer secure. The nation’s infrastructure is collapsing. The federal deficit is soaring. The health system is deteriorating. The cities are unsafe. The schools are failing. The gap between rich and poor is widening.

McCormick's call for a reversal of Reaganomics aligns with her commitment to fostering economic justice, equitable opportunities, and genuine improvements in the lives of those Americans often marginalized in financial discussions.
"By addressing the root causes of economic insecurity, we can bridge the gap and create an inclusive economic landscape that benefits all Americans," said McCormick. "The cornerstone of Reaganomics was tax cuts for the wealthy, coupled with deregulation and reductions in social programs. The central tenet – that tax cuts for the rich would 'trickle down' to the middle class – proved demonstrably false."
McCormick emphasized the need for policies to ensure that the benefits of economic growth are shared equitably among all strata of society.
Investment in the working class is a focal point of McCormick's proposal. She called for measures that result in more well-paying jobs, enhanced workplace protections, and avenues for worker representation.
Advocating for a fair and progressive tax system, McCormick believes in dismantling policies that disproportionately favor the wealthy, contribute to income inequality, and cripple the ability of ordinary Americans to participate effectively in politics.
Recognizing the role of unions in safeguarding workers' rights and negotiating fair wages, McCormick calls for policies that empower labor movements and restore their influence in the economic landscape.
"A reversal of Reaganomics would also involve robust support for public services, including healthcare, education, and social safety nets, to uplift those facing economic challenges," said McCormick. "The shift away from the concentration of wealth and power is a strategic move towards achieving long-term economic stability, minimizing income volatility, and fostering a more resilient and inclusive economy."
McCormick said she invites citizens, policymakers, and thought leaders to join her in advocating for a comprehensive and compassionate reassessment of economic policies by visiting her website at DemocratsFor.Us or by calling 732-340-1980.
By reversing Reaganomics, McCormick believes that the United States can build a future where optimism on Wall Street aligns harmoniously with the lived experiences of all Americans, creating a society that truly works for everyone.
