Boy Tries To Break Into Car; Owner Catches Him In The Act In Gloucester Twp.: Police
Police say they caught the juvenile suspect after a brief chase on foot.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A teenage boy was arrested after authorities say he tried to break into a vehicle early Saturday in Gloucester Township's Sicklerville section.
A resident called police just after 12:30 a.m. to report someone trying to break in their vehicle around Whitall Drive.
The suspect fled the area as police arrived, but officers received a description of them. An "alert motorist" then flagged down an officer and reported that a person was running into the nearby Terrestria development, police said.

Officers found the suspect running. He ignored commands to stop, but police say they caught him after a brief chase on foot.
The suspect, a 16-year-old boy, had burglary tools on him, police said.

He was brought to police headquarters and charged on a juvenile complaint with attempted burglary (third-degree), resisting arrest by flight (fourth-degree), possession of burglar tools (disorderly persons offense) and criminal mischief (disorderly persons offense).
