Barbecue, Prize Pack Available to Military, Public Safety Personnel At Camden County Fair

The fair is this weekend at Camden County College in Gloucester Township.

Gloucester Township, NJ -- A special barbecue will be held for military and public safety personnel as part of this weekend's Camden County Fair, county officials announced on Thursday.

The Camden County Fair takes place over two days, Sept. 17 and 18, at Camden County College in Gloucester Township.

The fair runs runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

The barbecue takes place on the second day of the fair, Sunday, Sept. 18, noon-3 p.m. Miltary and public safety personnel are invited to attend, and bring up to three guests.

Those attending must show proof of service, and supplies are available on a first come, first served basis. This offer is open to veterans, active duty military/reserves, Gold Star families, and public safety personnel (police, fire, EMS).

Military and public safety personnel are also eligible for a free exclusive County Fair prize pack in appreciation of their service. The pack includes free unlimited rides for up to four people and County giveaways. Prize packs are available at the Camden County welcome tent.

“Come to the fair and bring your family and friends for amusement rides, carnival games, great food and much more,” Camden County Freeholder Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Parks Department, said. “If you like pony rides, 4-H youth project displays and animal exhibits, the Camden County Fair is the place for you.”

There will be a full schedule of music during both days of the fair, including children’s acts, Latin, Caribbean, R&B and rock and roll music.

The Billy Hector Blues Band takes the stage at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

"The Voice" runner-up in 2014, Audra McLaughlin, and her country band perform at noon on Sunday.

Proud 4-H members will display their hard work ranging from arts, crafts, plants, animal, sewing and needlework. They will also show off their culinary expertise with cakes, pies, cookies, bread, jellies and jams, among other things.

Sponsors for this year’s fair include Forman Mills, Camden County College, Rutgers University, the Sun Newspapers and La Mega 105.7 FM.

Camden County College is located at 200 College Drive in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, located off exit 7B of Route 42.
