Camden County Murder Suspect Caught Months After Shooting: Prosecutor

The victim died in the hospital after several weeks on life support, authorities said.

CAMDEN, NJ — A Camden man was charged Monday with murder — two months after a shooting in the city — authorities said.

Marcus Davenport was arrested Monday in relation to the death of Anthony Young, officials said. Young, 38, was shot Nov. 20 and died after several weeks on life support, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO).

Police responded to the reported shooting at 9:08 p.m. Nov. 20 on Hunter Drive, the CCPO said. The victim — later identified as Young — was transported to Cooper University Hospital.

Young, of Camden, remained in critical condition at the hospital for several weeks. He was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m. Dec. 15, the CCPO said.

Davenport, 39, of Camden, was charged Monday with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
