Camden County Ready For Another Round Of Winter Weather

The Camden County Department of Public Works is ready for Round 2.

Crews worked through the night to keep 1,400 lane miles of roadways passable across the county, while dealing with freezing temperatures, county officials said Friday morning.

Their eyes are now trained on the next system expected to arrive tomorrow, despite the uncertainty regarding the exact track of this next coastal system. At this point, forecasts are not ruling out the possibility of between a half inch to two inches of snowfall, especially near the Atlantic County border.

Since the storm began, more than 100 pieces of equipment have been deployed from the Public Works complex in Lindenwold to Camden County’s 12 winter maintenance districts. The county’s response plan calls for crews to be dispatched only to the zones where they are needed.

“If you don’t have to travel, please stay off the roads to give our crews the ability to effectively do their job,” Camden County Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, said. “Anyone on the roadways during these times should be prepared to encounter slick road conditions. Always leave at least six car lengths behind our DPW vehicles while they work, and move any cars off the street and into a driveway while we continue our operations,” Freeholder Shin Angulo said. “Remember that it is illegal in New Jersey to plow or shovel snow from private property into roadways.”

A Code Blue Weather Advisory remains in effect for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, 6 p.m.-6 a.m. each day.
