13-Year-Old Forced To Wear Shock Collar in NJ Home: Reports

Authorities added three women charged in the case withheld "necessary amounts of food and clothing" from the teen, per multiple reports.

STRATFORD, NJ — Three women are facing charges of aggravated assault, child abuse, and neglect after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly forced to wear a shock collar intended for a dog, per multiple reports.

On March 1, the alleged victim told her neighbor, Stratford resident Karen Villec, about what had happened to her: "I saw the two marks from the dog collar," Villec tells 6ABC. "I was horrified."

Villec's husband then called 911, the TV station says. Authorities arrested Kelly, Rebecca, and Rachel Mennig in connection with the alleged incident and also say the three women withheld "necessary amounts of food and clothing" from the girl.

Although the women denied the allegations when they were questioned by police, another resident inside the home where the girl lived seems to confirm the girl's story, 6ABC continues.
