Car, Utility Pole Burst Into Flames After Alleged DWI Hit-And-Run Crash In South Jersey: Police
The driver and a passenger left the scene and their car, authorities said.

BLACKWOOD, NJ — A man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after he hit a utility pole on Wednesday night, Gloucester Township Police said.
Alan B. Cooper, 38 of Blackwood, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Officers responded to the intersection of Old Black Horse Pike and Oak Avenue at around 10 p.m. for a report of a hit-and-run vehicle crash.

Police found a pole that was severed and a car that was flipped on its side.


Both the driver and his passenger had fled the scene.

Along with help from witnesses, officers were able to find both of them along State Highway 168 and arrested Cooper.
He was processed, released, and now awaits a court hearing.
Around 400 residents lost power in the area Wednesday night after the pole was hit and have now regained service.
