Citizen's Tip Leads to Weapons Arrest in Gloucester Township

Reynaldo Hernandez, 42, was charged with possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

A Blackwood man was charged with weapons possession after an alert citizen reported a man handling handgun in the area of the Campus Plaza located at the intersection of Peter Cheesman Road and Erial Road.

Reynaldo Hernandez, 42, was charged with possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Gloucester Township Police announced on Friday.

After receiving the call at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday night, Gloucester Township Police arrived on location and met with the caller, who had continued to observe the subject while officers responded and directed them to an area behind the plaza.

Officers were able to locate Hernandez, who was allegedly holding what turned out to be an ammunition clip for and airsoft handgun that was filled with metal BB’s and soft pellets.

Hernandez allegedly painted the red tip of the handgun black to match the rest of the gun.

Hernandez allegedly stated that he was behind the store looking for items to shoot.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed before being remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
