Court Permanently Enjoins Harry's Tires Two Glo. Twp. Locations

Officials said they had been receiving complaints about the company for about 3 years.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Camden County Superior Court Judge permanently enjoined a Gloucester Township business from conducting many business operations, according to a post on the Gloucester Township Police Department's Facebook page.

Patch has previously reported that Harry's Tires, LLC, had been in business as recently as last October. The last post on the company's Facebook page was posted slightly more than 4 years ago.

The Superior Court order, which was issued last Wednesday, stated Harry's Tires, LLC, is permanently enjoined "from storing receiving, buying and selling tires or from operating a tire repair or replacement business" at its locations at 24 Hilltop Avenue in Blackwood and 1016 Black Horse Pike in Blackwood, according to officials.

The court order also gave the Gloucester Township Public Works Department to "remove all tires, padlock any doors, secure the locations, install concrete barriers to prevent ingress and egress from the locations and take any other reasonable actions to otherwise prevent the business from operating," the post said.

For about 3 years, state, county and local agencies have "received numerous complaints from residents and business owners about the public health and safety dangers posed by the business," according to Gloucester Township Mayor David R. Mayer.

Some of these complaints consisted of the company storing tires in a way that posed fire and health risks and "swarms of mosquitos" coming from the site, the mayor said. Repeated attempts to rectify the situation went unresolved, the mayor continued.

The township removed the scrap tires from the Hilltop Avenue location in accordance with New Jersey law and is in the process of completing the same task at the Black Horse Pike site, the post said.

The owners of Harry's Tires could not be reached for comment prior to this story's posting.
