Elderly Man Killed In 4-Vehicle Crash In South Jersey: Police
The man rear-ended a dump truck, which caused a chain reaction that impacted 2 more vehicles, authorities said.
MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man sustained fatal injuries Thursday morning from a four-vehicle collision in Monroe Township, police said.
Authorities identified the decedent as Richard Reddie, 80, of Franklinville.
The crash occurred at 7:46 a.m. on Fries Mill Road (Route 655), near Arrowtrail Road, police said. Preliminary investigation revealed that Reddie "failed to perceive" three vehicles in front of him that were stopped in traffic, according to law enforcement.

Reddie's 2011 GMC Sierra hit the back of a dump truck, which caused a chain reaction that impacted the other two cars, according to authorities. The force from the initial collision caused the dump truck to move forward and hit the back of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which then hit the back of a Cadillac, police said.
Reddie was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the 2021 Jeep sustained minor injuries, police said.
