Fatal Crash In Gloucester Twp. Under Investigation: Police

The victim was unconscious in the roadway and suffering from severe head injuries when officers arrived.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A crash that killed a pedestrian is under investigation in Gloucester Township, officials said.

Officers were dispatched at about 2:50 a.m. to the intersection of Old Black Horse Pike at Chews Landing Road. Upon arrival, they found an unconscious pedestrian suffering from severe head injuries in the roadway, police said.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries, according to law enforcement. The driver, who was unhurt, remained on-location, authorities said.

Police have not disclosed the identities of anyone involved. The pedestrian's name has been withheld pending notifications and further investigation, police said.

The Old Black Horse Pike was closed for several hours during the investigation's initial stages.
