Manhunt After Fatal Shooting In Gloucester Township: Police
A 26-year-old man was shot at a home in the Sicklerville section of Gloucester Township late Wednesday night.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 26-year-old man praised for his dedication to family was fatally shot at a home in the Sicklerville section of Gloucester Township late Wednesday night, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office announced.
Gloucester Township police responded to reports of shots fired on Yorkshire Road at about 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 23. Arriving officers found Kevin Carter on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle.
He was pronounced deceased on the scene at about 10:20 p.m., the prosecutor's office said. No one has been arrested, and no further information was available Thursday evening. Public records show Carter lived on Yorkshire Road, although it is unclear if the shooting happened at his house.

"Kevin had a heart that was so pure, genuine, and most of all loving," one friend wrote in a Facebook post. "All he wanted to do was give back to the community and help the family/kids in need. He went to school to better himself. ... He was one of the most selfless people you would ever meet. He had a smile that lit up the darkest room like the stars do on a dark night. He was always very respectful and could always make you laugh."
She said he put together a back to school drive for children in the community last year, and that he loved his mother and his family "unconditionally.

"Rest in heavenly peace," another friend wrote. "I haven’t seen you in a very long time. We went to school together 6th grade and up, and I remember him always smiling, and he was hella funny. This really touched me. Your family is in my prayers."
