GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A home was damaged after a fire broke out on Vance Avenue early Saturday morning, Gloucester Township police said. The lone occupant of the home was hospitalized as a precaution after being safely evacuated.

Police responded to the home on the unit block of Vance Avenue at about 10:46 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, for a report of a dwelling fire. Arriving officers found heavy smoke coming from the home.

Gloucester Township Fire units responded quickly and placed the fire under control, police said. With assistance from fire units from Pine Hill Station #62, they were able to contain it to the kitchen.
