Five Things You Need to Know ... About Timber Creek Golf
Tee off spring with five facts about Timber Creek's golf team.

It was a long, cold winter for the golfing community. As spring gets its legs underneath itself, it is high time to hit the links.
Check out this week's edition of "Five Things You Need to Know" as Patch features the Timber Creek Regional High School golf team.
1. One of the players to watch this year is sophomore Sadiyya Gillespie, who won placed fifth in the NJSIAA girls' Tournament of Champions last year as a freshman.

Another is Mike Ferguson, a senior who will attend the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on a full scholarship next year.
2. The Timber Creek golf team, like others in the area due to budget cuts, was in serious danger of folding. Thanks in large part to the efforts of the players' parents, who formed a booster club and organized fundraising events, the team continues.

Many have recognized district athletic director Christine Dziczek and coach Joe DeVecchis (along with his coaching counterparts at Triton and Highland high schools) as playing pivotal roles in maintaining the golf teams at the three Black Horse Pike Regional School District schools this year.
3. The Chargers have four matches in the coming week. They face off against Eastern, Camden Catholic, Triton and Winslow Township during the week of April 24 through April 30.
4. On April 20, the Timber Creek golf team competed against Paul VI. The Chargers fell 171-178. The Chargers sit at 1-3 on the season after losing to Seneca and Lenape as well. Their sole victory came against Cherry Hill East.
5. Timber Creek's home course is Freeway Golf Course in Sicklerville. Freeway, which opened in 1976 and was designed by Horace Smith, is located at 1858 Sicklerville Rd.
