Lil’ Slugger’s Accomplishments: Jones was dominant on the mound Tuesday night against Mount Ephraim. He allowed just three hits over 5 2/3 innings in Glendora’s 2-1 win. Jones’ most impressive inning was the fourth, where he struck out the side on just 10 pitches. He also came up big in the top of the fifth when he induced a popup to short with runners on second and third, ending Mount Ephram’s only threat of the game.

Jones also scored a run, showing he is more than a one-trick pony.

Lil’ Slugger’s Key to Awesomeness: At 6-foot-1, Jones is an intimidating presence for his age group. After a rough start, he was able to pound the strike zone, allowing him to record quick strikeouts and limiting his pitch count. This resulted in him going very deep into the game.

“I just threw strikes and tried to get them out,” Jones said.
