Gloucester City Man Fatally Stabbed Girlfriend: Police
Police found a couple suffering from stab wounds in the woman's apartment Wednesday morning. The man has been charged with murder.
GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ — When Gloucester City police arrived at a home on Bobwood Avenue early Wednesday morning, they found that a man and a woman in the home had both been stabbed, authorities said.
John Divetro, 51, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Gloucester City Police Chief Brian Morrell.
Christine Madiraca, 52, was pronounced deceased via telemetry, according to authorities. Now, Divetro is charged with fatally stabbing his girlfriend, according to authorities.

Police had been called to the home at about 10:11 a.m. on July 31 to conduct a wellness check on Madiracra. Police found Divetro lying on the bed, and Madiracra was lying on the floor.
Both had been stabbed. No further details about the incident were immediately provided Thursday morning.

Divetro is charged with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was receiving treatment as of Thursday morning.
Upon his release he will be transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
At this hearing, the court may order he be detained or released under Criminal Justice Reform.
