Overbrook High School graduate and Rowan University commit Joel Minch allowed just six hits in four games.

“We had a lot of younger guys playing for us and they really stepped up,” Minch said. “They played great, and also pitched well. It just shows you no matter who's pitching, if you throw well you will win, and this weekend went just like that. Also we put a lot of runs on the board, so I think we played really good under the circumstances."

Sterling High School senior and North Carolina Central commit Jimmy Sayles led the team with six hits and four RBI.
“This weekend we played well as a team. We were missing some guys due to the high school state playoffs,” Sayles said. “We didn't think anything of it and played hard with what we had. We pitched very well getting at least 5 innings from every starter which helps alot. We hit the ball hard and got clutch hits when we needed them. We defended very good only making a couple of errors. This was a great start for us and I believe that this weekend will give us the confidence going forward into the bulk of our season."

Gloucester Township will open its regular season campaign on Wednesday, June 1, at home against Deptford, 5:45 p.m.
