Gloucester Township Boy Charged With Murder of Atlantic County Teen

The boy was arrested at his home in the Sicklerville section of the township Thursday morning.

A Gloucester Township boy has been charged in the shooting death of a Pleasantville teenager, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said Thursday night.

Gloucester Township Police assisted in the arrest of the boy without incident at his home in the Sicklerville section of the township Thursday morning. He was then turned over to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.

The unidentified juvenile was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was lodged in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.

The body of a 17-year-old boy was found in the Max Manning Park in Pleasantville on Aug. 7. An ensuing autopsy determined the cause of death was multiple gunshots, and was ruled a murder.

The three-month investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit Detective James Scoppa and Pleasantville Police Department Detective Sergeant Christopher Taggart led to the arrest.
