Democrats Keep Gloucester Twp. Council Seats: Unofficial Results
Orlando Mercado, Tracey Trotto, Andrea Stubbs and Michael Mignone ran for re-election against Joe Damico and Ed Smalls in Gloucester Twp.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The results are in and it appears the incumbent Democrats have all retained their seats on Gloucester Township Council in Tuesday night's elections. In all, 35,085 residents voted in this election.
Results can be found below, with the winners listed in bold. They remain unofficial until certified by the county clerk. That is expected to take place some time next week, with an updated spreadsheet posted on the county’s website as provisional and mail-in ballots are counted, the clerk’s office said Wednesday morning.

Because Damico and Small were the only two Republicans running for four open seats, two of the Democrats were guaranteed to be re-elected. Mercado is the current council president, while Trotto is the vice president. Mercado is also the senior member of the group, having served since 2004.
The incumbents ran on improving infrastructure and diversifying the township’s revenue sources. The challengers ran to change a culture of higher taxes and what they call irresponsible spending. Damico and Small have never held elected office, and referred to themselves as regular guys trying to make a difference.
