Gloucester Township Man Charged; Heroin, Weapon Seized
Michael A. Mack, 25, was charged with multiple offenses, including certain person not to possess a firearm.

A joint raid resulted in the seizure of an undisclosed, significant amount of heroin and a firearm, the Gloucester Township Police Department announced Friday afternoon.
In addition to the seizures, Michael A. Mack, 25, of Sicklerville, was charged with certain person prohibited from possessing a firearm (2nd degree), distribution of CDS (3rd degree), possession of CDS (3rd degree), and possession of drug paraphernalia (disorderly persons).
Police had received information that Mack was distributing significant amounts of heroin from his residence on Hampshire Road in Gloucester Township.

During the investigation, Mack sold a quantity heroin to undercover police officers while on electronically monitored house arrest.
On Friday, the Gloucester Township Police Department Special Response Team (SWAT) and Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant on Mack’s residence.

A significant quantity of heroin, marijuana, narcotics packaging materials, and a pistol were recovered from the residence.
A woman and very young child were inside the residence at the time of the search warrant.
The Gloucester Township Police Department’s Juvenile Unit which included a specially trained Detective and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker was immediately on hand to offer counseling services to the mother and juvenile child.
The New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency were notified as well. The woman was released without charges.
The raid was the conclusion of a thorough investigation of controlled dangerous substances being sold in the township, conducted by the Gloucester Township Police Department Special Investigations Unit with the assistance of the Winslow Township Police Department.
It was part of the continued effort of addressing the national problem of drug abuse, specifically prescription pills and heroin, which police said leads those addicted into the worlds of theft, prostitution, and various other criminal activities.
The Gloucester Township Police Department has aggressively implemented a number of initiatives and programs to combat this growing abuse of heroin, including the targeting of known heroin dealers.
