Gloucester Township ShopRite Evacuated Over Bomb Threat: Police

The Chews Landing Road ShopRite and the surrounding businesses were evacuated due to an unfounded bomb threat Thursday night, police said.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A ShopRite in Gloucester Township and the surrounding businesses were evacuated when an unfounded bomb threat was called in on Thursday night, according to police.

The ShopRite on Chews Landing Road received a phone call in which the caller said the building would be blown up Thursday evening, Gloucester Township police said.

Police officers evacuated the ShopRite and the surrounding businesses in the same shopping complex. A short time later, The Market Place Shopping Center was safely and completely evacuated, police said.

The Camden County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad responded with K9 bomb dogs to conduct searches of the complex. No explosive devices were found, police said.

Fire departments and emergency response services from Gloucester Township also responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
