Gloucester Twp. Man Accused Of Assaulting Cops, Officials Say

Quamine Nokes was drunk at the time of the assault, according to authorities.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHP - A Gloucester Township man was arrested earlier this week on charges stemming from an assault on police officers, authorities said.

Quamine Nokes was “actively bleeding from both legs and appeared to be intoxicated,” according to a press release. He was charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and two counts of both aggravated assault on police and throwing bodily fluids.

Nokes was riding his bike this past Monday when it collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Chews Landing Road and Hider Lane, authorities said. Nokes took off on foot towards Little Gloucester Road and although initially stopped by police, tried to leave on several occasions, authorities said.

As police tried to arrest Nokes for obstruction of justice, he reportedly “grabbed” one police officer by the collar and was then placed in a police car, according to the press release. Upon Nokes’ arrival at Kennedy Hospital, he spit on several police officers, tried to bite some of the police officers and also continued his belligerent behavior continued as hospital staff tried to treat him, the press release said.

Nixon was sent to Camden County Prison to await further legal action, according to authorities.
