Great Escape: Melt Away This Weekend

Summer weekends in South Jersey often mean nights on the boardwalk. If you find yourself wishing you could trade your beach shoes for high heels, escape to the Melting Pot in Center City Philadelphia. 

The fondue at the Melting Pot offers a little for everyone from the most ravenous carnivores to vegetarians (and even has a gluten-free menu). The meal itself is an event—starting with gooey cheese fondue (dip in bread, apples and veggies) to the entree (meat or seafood dipped in flavored broth) to the dessert (chocolate, chocolate, chocolate). While a full night out can be over $50/person, you can take advantage of summer specials and enjoy all the gooey-melty goodness. 

Monday through Friday, stop into the Melting Pot for happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. For $15, you can get a complete meal of cheese fondue (choose from seven different varieties) and chocolate fondue (really, what’s a meal without dessert?). For a couple bucks more score a salad. And if you have a hearty appetite, score a four-course meal for $29. Entrees include a bubbling fondue pot of broth and all the dippers you could imagine (filet mignon, lobster, spinach ravioli, chicken and shrimp).

Happy Hour would not be complete without drinks. Check out the featured martini at $7, $4 draft beers and $1 off all other entrees.  The menu is available in both the bar area and the dining room. 

If you can’t make it in for happy hour, grab a babysitter mid-week for Why Not Wednesday? Throughout the month of July, the happy hour specials are available all night long.
