Heroin with 'Batman' Stamp Supposedly Linked to Camden's Overdose Spike
The Narcotics Analysis Unit of the New Jersey issued an alert for people to beware of the "Batman" narcotic brand.
Camden, NJ -- There's been 28 non-fatal suspected heroin overdoses in two days this past week in Camden. The last two, on Aug. 24, connected to free samples of heroin bearing a stamp with the word "Batman" on them, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office announced.
The Narcotics Analysis Unit of the New Jersey State Police Regional Operations and Intelligence Center issued an alert for people to beware of this narcotic "Batman" brand, the news release states.
It's suspected that this "Batman" product involved in this week's spike in overdoses is related to a previous overdose event, the Narcotic Analysis Unit said. The previous event involved free heroin samples stamped with the words "Don't Panic." The "Don't Panic" heroin brand seen in Camden contained the powerful painkiller fentanyl, the Narcotic Analysis Unit said.
