Highland High School's Water Walk to Benefit Children in Africa

The walk simulates the plight of African children who walk 4 miles with 40-pound buckets of water. Proceeds go toward a well for Swaziland.

Highland High School wants to build a water well for children in Africa.

The school is challenging Gloucester Township residents to walk a mile in the shoes of African children with its inaugural Water-Walk, Wednesday night, 5 p.m. at the high school’s football field.

The walk represents the plight of children who live in Swaziland, Africa. They have to travel about four miles a day, carrying a 40-pound container of water to the nearest water source, which is likely contaminated.
