Highland Regional High School Baseball Team Advances to Playoff Semifinals

Gloucester Township, NJ -- Anthony Masselli scored Alfonso Duran in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the second-seeded Highland Regional High School baseball team to a 1-0 win over No. 7 Seneca in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs on Thursday, according to nj.com.

Winning pitcher Christian Scafidi pitched a complete game shutout, striking out six, allowing six hits and walking two.

Highland will host No. 6 Toms River South, which upset No. 3 Delsea 7-0, in the semifinals on May 31.

The winner advances to the championship game, scheduled for June 3.

Highland opened the playoffs with a 7-6 win over No. 15 Triton on Monday.
