Intoxicated Driver Hit Police Car In Camden County: Authorities
Nobody was injured, but a patrol vehicle sustained significant damage, police said.
BERLIN, NJ — A intoxicated driver struck and damaged a police car while an officer was responding to another incident, authorities said.
The crash occurred just after midnight Friday on Jackson Road in Berlin, near Marshall Avenue. Nobody was injured, but Berlin police shared photos showing significant damage to the passenger side of the patrol vehicle.
During the crash, the officer was inside his marked vehicle, which was parked on the side of Jackson Road as he handled a previous call for service, police said. The patrol car was struck by a 2025 Ford Explorer that was traveling on Jackson Road toward the White Horse Pike, authorities said.

Police found that the Ford Explorer driver — Francis R. Welsh II, of Lindenwold — was intoxicated. He was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence.
Welsh was charged also charged with refusal to submit to breath testing, unlawful possession of certain weapons, and criminal mischief. The driver was released, pending a court date.
