Man, Girlfriend Indicted In 2-Year-Old's Death In Camden County: Prosecutor

Michael Disporto is accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend's daughter, causing injuries that resulted in her death.

A Manahawkin man and his girlfriend have been indicted in connection with the murder of the woman’s 2-year-old daughter, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Gloucester City Police Chief Brian Morrell said on Tuesday.

Michael Disporto, 22, of Manahawkin, was indicted on one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree felony murder and one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault.

Amber Bobo, 26, of Gloucester City, was indicted on one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities allege Disporto sexually assaulted the child just before the July 4 holiday. He had been dating Bobo for two weeks. The girl's father lives in Cape May County.

Authorities believe the assault resulted in multiple injuries to the child, who vomited three times in the hours after the alleged assault. Disporto repeatedly convinced Bobo not to take the girl to the hospital, even threatening to leave her if she did.

Ultimately, Bobo called police and emergency medical personnel to her home on the 100 block of South King Street in Gloucester City around 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 3.

The girl was transported by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead two days later.

Disporto was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree aggravated sexual assault on July 7. The four-count indictment was returned by a Grand Jury last week.

They were both held on $1.5 million bail.
