Police allege John P. Randolph was under the influence of drugs when he caused the accident that killed 39-year-old Dennis M. McCaffrey Jr.

An Atco man has been indicted for causing the death of a passenger last year in Pemberton Township after his car left the road and slammed into a tree, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said. Police believe John P. Randolph was under the influence of drugs when he caused the accident that killed 39-year-old Dennis M. McCaffrey Jr. on Sept. 27, 2016.
Randolph was indicted by a Burlington County Grand Jury on one count of second-degree vehicular homicide on Thursday. An arraignment will be scheduled soon in Superior Court. He is presently being detained in the Burlington County Jail on unrelated charges.
Randolph crashed his 1993 BMW 325i in the area of Hanover Boulevard and Magnolia Street in the Browns Mills section of the township just before 6 a.m. that day, according to police. McCaffrey was pronounced dead at the scene.
