'Armed And Dangerous' Man Sought In NJ Fatal Shooting Now In Custody: Officials

BRIDGETON, NJ — A man who was being sought in a deadly shooting in June and was considered armed and dangerous turned himself in early Monday morning, the Bridgeton Police Department said.

Rynell L. Lawrence, 32, of Bridgeton, was wanted in the slaying of Quashawn T. White, 33, of Newark, after he was found shot at the Burlington Manor apartments.

On June 24, at around 8 p.m., officers responded to 90 S. Burlington Road for a report of someone who was shot.

White was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later died from his injuries, police said.

Lawrence was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose (in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A(1)), second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5B), and fourth-degree certain persons to not have a weapon.

The state was seeking to have Lawrence held in jail until trial at a detention hearing on Tuesday afternoon.
