Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With SUV In Gloucester Township: Police

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an SUV on Friday afternoon in Gloucester Township. Although the crash remains under investigation, police said the SUV driver pulled in front of the motorcycle to make a left-hand turn.

Township police haven't publicly identified anyone involved in the incident as of Monday morning. There are no charges at this time, authorities said.

The collision occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Black Horse Pike at Brewer Avenue. Arriving officers found the motorcyclist laying unresponsive in the roadway.

First responders administered lifesaving efforts, including CPR, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver sustained minor injuries. She was treated at the scene and refused medical transport, police said.

The initial investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on the Black Horse Pike when the driver of a gold Ford Escape pulled out in front of them to make a left-hand turn northbound onto the Pike, authorities said.

"It appears the driver of the motorcycle attempted to avoid the collision, but ultimately was unable to stop," police said.

Officials shut down the Black Horse Pike for about 2.5 hours to conduct the initial investigation.

Police reminded the public to yield to motorcyclists at intersections and to stay alert because the vehicles are smaller and often harder to see. Find more info on motorcycle safety.
