New Gloucester BOE Member Submits Resignation
The board announced Brian Reagan would resign Monday night. The vacancy must be filled by April 21.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Gloucester Township Board of Education is looking to fill a vacancy after a newly-elected board member resigned one month into his term. Brian Reagan has resigned from the K-8 school district’s board of education, the board announced at its meeting Monday night. No reason was given for his sudden resignation. He was not in attendance.
Reagan has been the subject of some controversy shortly after the election. The Bob and Steve Show reports that he lied in his online biography he posted while running for school board and that he allegedly wore black face in a social media post.
Reagan was elected along with Carolyn Grace and Anthony Marks in the November elections. He earned 4,523 votes in the 15-person race, making him the second highest vote-getter.

The board now has until April 21 to fill the vacancy. The position will be advertised on the school district’s website, according to Board Solicitor Dan Long.
Interviews will be conducted in public, with the board deliberating in private. The vote to fill the vacancy must be held in public, and will require a majority vote of the remaining eight members.

The person selected to fill the seat will serve for the rest of the year. A special election will be held in November. The winner will fill the remainder of the term.
That person will have to undergo a full criminal background check before being seated at next January’s reorganization meeting.
