Man Who Killed, Sexually Assaulted Baby In Camden Co. Gets Sentenced To Prison

Michael Disporto sexually assaulted and killed his girlfriend's 23-month-old daughter.

CAMDEN, NJ — A man who sexually assaulted and killed his girlfriend's baby was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without parole.

In October 2023, a jury found Michael Disporto guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault in connection with the death of a child. Disporto, 30, of Manahawkin, was sentenced to life behind bars and an additional 40-year prison term for the sexual-assault conviction Thursday in Camden County Superior Court.

The victim was a 23-month-old girl, who authorities identified with the initials A.S.

In July 2016, Gloucester City police were alerted about an unresponsive child. The baby, A.S., was brought to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she was found to have suffered extensive injuries, authorities said.

There were also signs that A.S. was sexually abused.

A.S. was pronounced dead two days later. Her death was ruled a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

After the assault, Disporto repeatedly convinced his girlfriend not to take her baby to the hospital, even threatening to leave her if he did, authorities said.

The baby's mother, Amber Bobo, ultimately called police to her Gloucester City home.

Bobo was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child for neglecting A.K's medical care. She took a plea deal and was sentenced in 2017 to three years in prison.
