Lil Slugger's Accomplishments: Nocella had an all-around great game Thursday night against Stratford. He opened the game by being patient, taking a pair of walks and scoring a run. In the top of the fourth inning he finally got a chance to swing the bat and made the most of his opportunity, slugging a home run to left-center. Nocella nearly hit another homer in his next at-bat, but had to settle for an RBI ground-rule double.
On top of that Nocella played a strong centerfield and came in to pitch a scoreless inning.

Lil’ Slugger’s Key to Awesomeness: Nocella did a fantastic job with pitch selection. When the pitches weren’t there in the first two at-bats, he took them and took a pair of free passes. When he got a pitch to hit in his third and fourth at-bats, he didn’t miss them, driving the ball.
As a pitcher, Nocella understands the importance of strikes. He will get the ball in tonight’s game against Haddon Heights. Asked the key to winning that game, he kept it simple: “Just throw strikes,” Nocella said.
